Are customers looking for your product?
Then why are they not looking for you?
As the title of this page states customers are looking for your product, then why are they not looking for you. Having customers look for you like they look for your product could be just what you need.
But how to get customers to look for you is an idea that many can not relate to, and where to get your customers from is how you do business.
Getting your product in front of as many customers as you can is the way. There are many different ways in which to do this. We covered the best one, which is word of mouth the next few are money driven and need to be studied.
When we speak of advertising cost we need to be on target to get the most out of the dollars spent. How we spend on pay advertising is very important. We need to target the right niche and be almost certain that we have the right age group and all the other demographics right. If you are selling auto parts and you are advertising in a school newspaper that might be good for the school newspaper, but that would only be a donation as far as your business is concerned.
Now if you on the other hand were advertising in a technical school newspaper that had an auto mechanics class in it that might be your targeted niche. When big companies advertise they have studied their niche and demographics to know who and what they are expecting from the dollars they are spending. When spending on advertising you need to know how much each customer is going to cost you this can make assurances of the cost of advertising is right. When you are planning a budget you will need to always add a budget for advertising into your plan.
You have a limited budget and need customers to call you. A Web Site can be a real source of incoming customers and inexpensive cards to distribute along with free publications can make the phone ring. When that happens you are in control of your sales and it is actually less expensive than chasing customers around trying to find them for appointments.
If customers call you then you are in control. You are suddenly the expert that customers are seeking out; the situation has reversed from you being the hunter to being the hunted. The real success in sales is for the customer to come to you and seek out your service or product and then you have stopped wasting your time trying to seek out customers that are trying to avoid having their time taken by you.
I know that probably goes against everything the so called motivational experts have been teaching for years, but the times and customers are changing. When you work a system that turns the customers to seeking you out you have become a successful expert. Imagine coming to work and having messages from customers waiting for you.
You can expand the advertising to e-mails, press releases and many other forms of cost effective advertising. It can really happen for you; with a little innovation and your competitor’s inability to be creative enough to compete you take the lead. Listen if you are sick does a doctor call you and offer his service? No! You seek one out for yourself, so why are people not seeking you for your help.
Doctor’s diagnoses of problems are not always correct, but we still seek them out. I have a personal experience with an incorrect diagnosis and it was very serious, I still went back for more. You might be thinking that they have gone to school and learned all that medical information, but it is all a new problem each time a patient comes in.
This is very much like our products that solve problems for business. Each customer has different needs and we should be diagnosing the problem and giving them the solution to their needs. You need to position yourself as an expert in your field with writing different articles and post them in different publications to give you credibility.
Know Your Market
Who will be the best group to market your product to? Will age or gender be a determining factor of who you want to target? Will income or a particular region be a better target for you and your product? This will require some research education as well. I know you are asking questions to yourself on this subject, but this is important to have the knowledge of who and where you want to consistently put your efforts.
You can not sell your product to all people in every situation. You will do better with individual groups of people in some cases and not do well with other groups. Know your limitations and find your niche group to do business with. This is part of knowing your market and how to approach them for better results. Everyone has a certain group of individuals that are easy for them to communicate with and develop a relationship with, all you need to do is find your niche and market to them specifically.
